NLURC serves PLWHA through holistic, wraparound case management that includes medical case management, housing case management, nutrition services, recovery services, and legal services. NLURC Staff work collaboratively to ensure our clients receive the appropriate care they need.
NLURC provides services to any individual who is eligible, regardless of race, ethnic background, sexual orientation, or religious affiliation. NLURC offers advocacy, translation and interpretative services for clients who are Limited English Proficient (LEP).
Over the years, NLURC has adapted to meet the needs of the community. Our staff provides clients the option to receive services at home or at the agency.
Medical Case Management
Medical case management provides a range of client-centered services focused on improving healthy outcomes, improving access to necessary medical treatments and retaining clients in care. Our medical case managers regularly collaborate with other specialty care providers.
Non-Medical Case Management
Non-medical Case Managers focus on easing entry to services and provide personal assistance in accessing medical, social, community, legal, financial and other needed resources.
Housing Case Management
Our Housing Case Managers can help clients obtain and maintain permanent, affordable housing through collaborations with other social service organizations. NLURC Housing Case Managers can also connect clients with the resources they need to help for utility assistance.
Legal Clinic
The legal department represents clients in multiple areas of law to defend clients from unjust treatment and to help clients confidently assert their rights. The legal staff focuses on cases such as landlord/tenant disputes and eviction representation, applications and appeals for Social Security benefits, expungements of past criminal or eviction records, advance directives and estate planning, applications for citizenship, and applications for legal name and gender marker changes.
Nutrition
NLURC houses a food pantry that is regularly restocked to provide our clients with the nourishment they need. Home delivery arrangements can be made for clients who are unable to visit our offices due to special circumstances.
Pharmacy
NLURC offers pharmacy services through our partnership with Coordinated Care Network (CCN) Pharmacy for clients enrolled in Medical and Non-Medical Case Management. Clients enrolled with CCN have an assigned personal care representative team and a 24/7 on-call staff. Clients may choose various packaging options including style and language, and customize delivery methods including traditional options and hand-delivery via courier allowing for better medication adherence. Enrollees can also request customized text reminders for medications.
Youth Development Program
NLURC provides a free after-school service created to teach young kids the importance of self-discipline and healthy living through Chinese martial arts. The Tenets of Shaolin Kung Fu embody the Buddhist virtues of pure-minded concentration, fairness, and righteousness in all social interactions. By partnering with the Cleveland Shaolin Kung Fu Academy, NLURC’s Youth Development Program aims to create fun and purposeful learning opportunities in a safe environment for boys and girls alike.
NLURC Recovery Services
NLURC’s recovery program is a spiritually-based, holistic approach to recovery. The goal of this program is to allow clients to find their niche in the recovery world, reminding and encouraging them to have fun in the process and explore new activities that are healing and supportive. A Recovery Coach helps clients make smart choices and healthy decisions and allows them to find resources they need to support their sobriety.

NLURC HIV Prevention Program & Testing
NLURC's Prevention Program offers education on how to prevent HIV and how to participate in healthy relationships.NLURC is also committed to eliminating stigma related to the virus. NLURC now offers rapid HIV testing!
Fathers in Ring
NLURC, Cleveland Shaolin Kung Fu Academy and the Cuyahoga County Fatherhood Initiative have partnered to offer fathers with their children, and at-risk teens/young men to attend martial arts classes in a supportive environment that promotes collaboration, growth, and positivity.
